My friend Bochman sent this to me a few days ago and today was the first opportunity I had to read it. You linguists out there should have something to say about this. I just don't know if this is for real! What say you? Hanggang sa muli, until next e-time...

Well...it seems to me that people refer to it as 'THE Da Vinci Code' not as 'DA Vinci Code'. Maybe my sampling is not representative of the population, but it doesn't seem as people are using 'da' as 'the' in this case.
Esp if people know its fictionally based on Leonardo DA Vinci's work.
Sounds like the linguist who wrote that doesn't have much else to gripe about.

What they said about rap music made me laugh outloud. I'm sure hip hop doesn't need any help from movies like the Da Vinci Code to come up with new words, they're creative enough as it is (in a good way). But I guess some people can't accept that language evolves over time, and that includes new words being created or existing words being used in new ways.
I also agree with Elaine- I think I hear people say "the da vinci code". I don't think people really translate "da" as "the". Unless maybe they've never heard of Leonardo da Vinci, which I guess might be likely ;-)

Too true! Maybe too much focus on language but very big lack of general knowledge. It made me laugh too. Makes me want to see the movie -- NOT!

Is that for real? Hahaha! That is too funny...Leonardo THE Vinci...Yeah, let's tell those Italians to change their word "da" to the English "the"! And might as well make the French and Spanish say "the" instead of "de" since "de" is almost the same. Like "The Anza" instead of "De Anza". That'll teach those rebels corrupting the English language! ;)

...or maybe, they should first read "da book" to get their case straight!
