Hey Pinoys!
You know I like to put in some sort of picture for every blog I make, just to make it a bit more interesting. However, it was really hard for me to find something na talagang "Tatak Pinoy." Sad to say, ito lang ang natagpuan kong "universally" Pinoy. Iba na talaga ang may pinagsamahan di ba?

Anyway, I wanted to do a survey -- an iPod related survey. You can totally tell I love my iPod can't you? I have been told by a Pinoy friend, that Pinoys of a "certain age group" have specific easy listening songs they listen to. I completely agree! However, for the life of me, I couldn't seem to remember ANY of these songs. I am creating my "mellow" folder for my iPod because I don't want to listen to the same songs that I use when I run while I'm folding laundry or washing dishes etc.
So, mga pare at mga mare, any suggestions? You can suggest some OPM for sure, but it might be hard for me to find at the library or on iTunes on account of it not having a very big international market di ba? Just suggest any favorite from "our age group." I'd also like to hear the dancing songs you can remember to up the list for my running music because who knows, I might need more songs if I decide to run a longer distance.
I will be waiting to hear from all of you. Wala naman parating sumasagot sa blog ko. Ang alam talaga ng ibang tao wala akong kaibigang Pinoy. I hope you guys respond. Katuwaan lang para mag muni-muni. Hanggang sa muli, until next e-time...

Well even though I am a linguist and love reading other languages, I have no idea what most of that was about. And I'm not in your age group, so I can't help you there...
How about Dancing Queen by Abba? ;)

No fair writing in tagalog! I only know reindeer. :( Just you wait, I'm going to make a blog and write in Kansan!

I will try very hard to decipher the Kansan dialect. Feel free to make a suggestion though. You ARE in THAT age group (give or take a couple of years ;)

We're on the same age group now that i recently turned 40. However, I've been listening to anime music at the moment, they make really good music. Some of my favorites are: "Memories" from One Piece, "Ask DNA" from Cowboy Bebop, "Small of Two Pieces" from Xenogears, "Wind" from Naruto, "Love Tropicana" from Jungle Guu, "The Dream will not Die" from Tales of Phantasia, "Shine" from Hellsing (which is actually performed by rock group Mr.Big). Try to find the album "Glory of Gershwin" or anything by the group, King's Singers. What you shouldn't miss is "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" version performed by Morten Harket (lead singer of A-Ha) from the soundtrack of the movie, Coneheads.
As for OPM... our age group used to listen to Sharon Cuneta, but i think i'll go for VST & Co.

These are taken directly from Kurt's ipod. He's the original 80's boy.
Hall and Oates
Safety Dance-Men without Hats
Human League-Don't you want me Baby
Cars-Shake it up, hello again, magic
Katrina and the waves-Walking on Sunshine (this is from me!)
Olivia Newton John
Rick Springfield
Madonna
Okay-I'm out of ideas.

Well, "the paper" thanks for reminding me you turned 40 just recently! Ilang buwan lang ang tanda ko sa 'yo. Maraming salamat sa iyong mga suggestions. I'll maybe try to find clips of some titles you mentioned, but you're right on target with "Can't take my eyes off you." Merong mabilis na version sang by a female performer akong natatandaan. You know which one I'm talking about?

Kurt is the original '80s boy, along with Ben. I've never heard some of the songs you mentioned. Must not have been a big hit in the Third World. I like Hall & Oates, but can't remember which song/s. Madonna is inevitable, in spite of the fact that she turned into such a weirdo. Thanks reindeer ;)

You're remembering the disco versions done by Gloria Gaynor and Diana Ross. the version i like has percussions out of this world plus the soulful voice of Morten Harket... sigh. As for other 80s music, try Billy Joel and Queen. For contemporary, look for Michael Buble, Robbie Williams or Ronan Keating. How about the inevitable Barbra Streisand?

That's the one! Yeah, the "dance" version. Haven't had time to look for the Harket version. I've got Billy Joel already. Streisand's voice is too high. I wanna be able to sing with it too if you please ;) Thanks for your input. Awesome!
