Adopted and Fostered
You've heard about the puppies we got for Christmas for our boys right? They're names are Junior and Bowser. They're really cute and lovable, but not at all the size we anticipated. They were double (or even triple) the size we wanted them to be. Here is a picture of the puppies before we got them. They were smaller then.

It was a big adjustment from the very start. The boys were excited (all 4 of them, humans and canine) and were spending a lot of time during Christmas break. There was training that needed to be done, obedience school and what not. It was hard, and just got harder. The bottom line was that the boys weren't spending as much time with the dogs as they should. They're like toys to them -- I'll play for bit, I'm done now so I'll leave you alone. Being puppies, they're very playful and to a point, destructive. The damage they have caused to our home has now ran in the thousands. Seriously! It just wasn't working out.
I felt really bad for them because they wanted constant playtime with the boys which they couldn't give. One of the reason's is their size. They're just too big and keep knocking Timmy down which scares him. Anyway, there were lots of reasons why time with these guys was at a premium. They were miserable because they didn't get that much attention and we were miserable because they kept destroying stuff. Up front, I just want to let you guys know that I am NOT going to discuss what they've done so don't ask me. I don't want to talk about that.
To cut a long story short, we let them go. No, we didn't take them to the Humane Society. We made sure homes were found for them. It makes me want to cry even as I write this. It was hard to give them up, but even harder to not give them up. They don't belong to a family like us who would merely take care of them. They need a home that will love them and give them the attention that they deserve. Big difference.
Last Saturday, Junior was adopted and Bowser found a foster home. Bowser would be kept in foster care until he can find a permanent home who would take him. They will not be destroyed. I find comfort in that. So this short chapter closes on our dog ownership. It's been happy and sad. Lots of sad. :-l Lets hope that my next post would be more cheerful. If you think about it, its a happy ending of sorts because our furry face friends did find a home. God bless Junior and Bowser. Thanks for being a part of Blight family for a brief time. Hanggang sa muli, until next e-time...

i had a bunny i had to find a home for once. i had gotten a second girl bunny and the two females tried to kill each other. talk about fur flying! i tried to make it work for a long time, but finally couldn't take it anymore. that was before i knew having a bunny couple works much better.
they will be better off where they can get more attention. i'm glad you found them homes.
